NeuroLux Optogenetics System

A complete NeuroLux user package will come with everything a researcher ever need to do optogenetics research. We provide the full hardware and software system along with every tool necessary to set this up. Don’t worry about finding the right cables or screwdrivers; we got your back.

Our implantable devices integrate a flexible magnetic loop antenna and a rectifier for the wireless power delivery scheme. The entire device is smaller than a U.S. dime and configured for implantation in the brain and spinal cord.

Unilateral Device

The brain implantable device mounts sub-dermally on top of the animal’s skull for chronic stability in operation without any observable adverse effects on the animal movement, brain tissue, or general social behavior. It also incorporates a red indicator LED to provide a convenient indicator of operation.

Size: 10.5 x 1.3 mm (diameter x thickness)
Weight: 30 mg or less
Wavelength : 470nm – default (blue), 530nm (green), 590nm (yellow) & 630nm (red)
LED probe length: 2, 4, 6 mm

Bilateral Device

The newly-released bilateral device mounts sub-dermally on top of the animal’s skull, incorporating two probes with a uLED on each end to deliver simultaneous bilateral stimulations into two distinctive target regions.

Size: 11.5 x 10.5 x 1.3 (L x W x thickness)
Weight: 30 mg or less
Wavelength : 470nm – default (blue), 530nm (green), 590nm (yellow) & 630nm (red)
LED probe length: 2, 4, 6 mm

Spinal Device

The spinal device flexibility, lightweight construction, and open oblong design with a single µ-LED tethered centrally at the probe tip allow for easy manipulation and robust operation.

Size: 10 x 5 x 1.3 mm (L x W x thickness)
Weight: 20 mg or less
Wavelength: 470nm (blue), 530nm (green), 590nm (yellow), 630nm (red)

Power Distribution Control Box (PDC Box)

The PDC Box is responsible for delivering wireless power to the implants. Our wireless operation scheme provides robust coverage in multiple representative cages and boxes commonly used for behavioral studies. Closed-lid home cages with food and water containers are fully compatible, largely independent of materials and structures, suitable for studies of individuals or groups of mice. To learn more about the power transmission, please refer to our latest publication!

Output: Maximum 24 V Size: 360 mm x 200 mm x 160 mm Weight: 3 kg

Antenna Tuner Box

To maximize power transfer to implantable devices in any antenna and cage settings, we need to manually match the impedance of the source and the antenna using the antenna tuner box.

Size: 115mm x 90mm x 55mm

Laptop with NeuroLux Software

Researchers can control optogenetics simulation on animals using NeuroLux user-friendly software. The simple interface allows users to adjust frequency and pulse duration, and to apply burst mode that is also compatible with TTL input system.

Splitter (optional)

The splitter allows researchers to work with multiple cages. With one PDC Box, users can split the power into more than one enclosure and operate the system simultaneously.
